Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

DHRIT: Focus. Study. Grow. ("DHRIT", "we", "our", "us") is a study and focus ecosystem for competitive-exam students, developed by 59 Labs. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and what choices you have.

By using DHRIT, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

This policy applies to the DHRIT Android application and the DHRIT website (dhrit.app). It does not apply to third-party services linked from within DHRIT.

3. Information we collect

3.1 Account and identity information

When you create a DHRIT account, we may collect:

  • Your name
  • Email address
  • User ID and authentication identifier
  • Account creation date and last activity
  • Authentication provider (Google or email)

If you sign in with Google, we receive only the information Google shares with us based on your Google account permissions, which typically includes your name and email address.

If you use DHRIT as a guest, you may receive an internally generated identifier. Guest data may not persist across sessions. You may be able to convert a guest account to a registered account; the specific behavior will be described in the app.

3.2 Study preferences

During onboarding, we collect:

  • Your target exam (for example: JEE Main, JEE Advanced, NEET UG)
  • Your daily study target
  • Your focus and app-blocking preferences

These are used to personalise your DHRIT experience.

3.3 Study and focus session data

DHRIT's core function is to record your study activity. We store:

  • Focus session start and end times
  • Session duration
  • Date of session
  • Study activity, subject, or topic you enter
  • Associated room
  • Daily accumulated study time
  • Session count, streak, and consistency metrics
  • Historical study statistics

This data powers features including Study Wall, Attendance, Leaderboard, and Analytics.

3.4 Installed application information

DHRIT's focus and app-blocking feature may need to access information about applications installed on your Android device, specifically to identify which apps you have selected to block during a focus session.

This includes:

  • Installed application package names
  • Apps you select for blocking
  • App-blocking configuration you set

This information is used only to enforce the focus session you configure. DHRIT does not read the content of other applications, does not monitor your use of other applications beyond what is necessary to enforce blocking, and does not share your installed app list with third parties.

Google Play treats inventory of apps on a device as sensitive user data. We take this seriously. The exact Android permissions and APIs used for this feature will be documented in our Google Play Data Safety declaration.

If DHRIT uses Android's AccessibilityService to support app-blocking functionality, we will provide a prominent disclosure within the app explaining exactly what it is used for before you are asked to grant that permission.

3.5 Study Wall data

If your Study Wall visibility is enabled, other DHRIT users in your rooms may see:

  • Your display name
  • Your live or offline status
  • Your elapsed study time during an active session
  • Your total study time for the current day
  • Your current study activity and subject
  • The room you are studying in

Study Wall visibility is user-controlled. You can disable it from your settings at any time. Only users in rooms you have joined will see your Study Wall presence.

3.6 Rooms data

When you join or create a DHRIT Room, we store:

  • Room name, description, type, and category
  • Room creator and member information
  • Join and leave dates
  • Room roles and permissions
  • Room-level statistics (member count, active members, total study time)

3.7 Attendance and leaderboard data

We generate attendance metrics from your study sessions, including:

  • Attendance percentage, days attended, total sessions
  • Study time and current streak
  • Monthly attendance records and activity heatmap data

Leaderboard data includes your display name, rank, study time, session count, and streak within a specific room, for the time periods today, this week, and this month. Leaderboard data is visible only to members of the same room.

3.8 Chat messages

Room chat stores:

  • Your user ID and display name
  • Message content
  • Message timestamp
  • Room association
  • Edit and deletion metadata

Chat messages are visible to all members of the room in which they are sent. Deleted messages may be retained in secure backups for a limited period as described in section 8.

3.9 Planner data

Your personal planner and group planner goals may include:

  • Goal name, urgency level, and time required
  • Completion status and dates
  • Associated room, if applicable

3.10 Quick notes

If Quick Notes are stored on our servers, we store note title, content, and timestamps associated with your account. If Quick Notes remain local to your device only, we do not collect them. The final implementation will be described in the app.

3.11 Study materials

DHRIT provides study material PDFs. We may record which materials you open or access in order to track your progress. We do not collect the content of the PDFs themselves as user data.

3.12 Tools and exam data

Custom exam countdowns you create are stored against your account. Calculator, stopwatch, and other tool inputs are processed locally on your device and are not uploaded to our servers unless we explicitly tell you otherwise.

3.13 Notifications

If you enable notifications, we may store a device token associated with your account to send you study reminders, focus session alerts, room notifications, and chat notifications. You can manage notification preferences in your device settings and within the app.

3.14 Device and technical information

We and our third-party service providers may automatically collect:

  • Device model and Android version
  • App version
  • Language and time zone
  • IP address
  • Crash reports and diagnostic information
  • App performance data
  • Installation and app instance identifiers

3.15 Advertising data

DHRIT displays advertisements to help cover operating costs. Advertisements are never shown during active focus sessions, study material viewing, or timer experiences.

The advertising SDK we use may collect:

  • Advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID)
  • Device information
  • Ad interaction information (impressions and clicks)
  • Advertising measurement information
  • Consent status

The specific advertising SDK has not yet been finalised. This policy will be updated before or when ads are introduced to reflect the exact provider and data collected. You will be informed of any material changes before they take effect.

3.16 Analytics and crash reporting

We may use analytics and crash reporting services to understand how DHRIT is used and to fix problems. These services may collect app events, screen views, session information, crash logs, and device identifiers. Specific providers will be disclosed when the production stack is finalised.

4. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Deliver and improve DHRIT's core features
  • Display Study Wall, attendance, leaderboard, and analytics
  • Operate DHRIT Rooms and Room chat
  • Send notifications you have enabled
  • Enforce focus sessions and app blocking as you configure
  • Display advertisements
  • Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and security threats
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Respond to your support requests

We do not use your study data to make inferences about your academic performance, intelligence, or ability. Your study data is used to power the features you chose to use within DHRIT.

5. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share your information with:

  • Authentication providers: such as Google, to verify your identity when you sign in
  • Cloud and backend infrastructure providers: to host and operate the DHRIT service
  • Analytics and crash reporting providers: to understand app performance
  • Advertising providers: to display advertisements within the app (once the SDK is finalised)
  • Push notification providers: to deliver notifications to your device
  • Legal authorities: where we are required to do so by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of DHRIT, its users, or others

All third-party providers are contractually required to handle your data in a manner consistent with this policy and applicable law. Specific provider names will be disclosed as the production infrastructure is confirmed.

6. Data storage and security

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure. We use industry-standard practices to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) between your device and our servers and secure server-side storage.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but we commit to notifying you of any significant breach affecting your data as required by applicable law.

8. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the service.

Specific retention periods for each category:

  • Account and profile data: retained while your account exists, deleted upon account deletion
  • Focus session history: retained while your account exists; specific archival periods will be defined before launch
  • Attendance and analytics: retained while your account exists
  • Room membership records: retained while your account exists or until you leave the room
  • Chat messages: retained for a defined period; deleted messages may remain in secure backups for a limited time before permanent deletion
  • Crash and analytics data: subject to the retention policies of the relevant provider
  • Security and abuse-prevention logs: retained for a limited period as required for security purposes

Final retention periods for each category will be defined before the production launch and reflected in an updated version of this policy.

9. Children's privacy

DHRIT is primarily aimed at students preparing for competitive examinations such as JEE and NEET, which include students who may be under 18.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us personal information without your consent, please contact us at mehul@59labs.in and we will take steps to delete it.

The minimum age to use DHRIT and any specific requirements for users under 18 will be defined in our Terms of Use and in the app before launch.

10. Third-party links and services

DHRIT may contain links to external websites or resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before interacting with them.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email before the changes take effect. The updated policy will always be available at dhrit.app/privacy. Continued use of DHRIT after the effective date of changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

12. Governing law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and applicable rules thereunder.
